Design Considerations
The T2 is a low cost way to input temperature information into a PLC, process control meter, distributed control system (DCS), or other industrial control system. The T2 can be mounted through any 1/2" hole and the two wires connected to an analog input card or other two wire 4-20 mA current loop circuit. The -17 to + 183F range is the 4-20mA range. The full range of the sensor output is -40 to +185F (1.8 to 20.6mA) The T2 is designed for low cost applications where average precision is acceptable. At initial power up, the T2 may read as much as 3.5 degrees F lower for a minute or two until normal operating temperature is reached. The T2B has an aluminum extension that reduces the effect of "self-heating" for greater accuracy. Direct exposure to sunlight can cause warming that may affect reading accuracy. Because the T2 has a PVC housing, care should be taken to insure that the operating environment does not get so hot that the PVC housing will soften. The T2 should not be used as the sole sensing element in critical equipment or safety applications. |
